Source text · highlightedNovember 26, 2008 08/20445 Palmetto Police Homicide 700 Blk 9th St W 1 Miguel Gomes Wednesday, November 26, 2008, approximately 8:36 am in the 500 block of 9th Street West, Palmetto, witness heard what they thought to be a “pop” or firecracker. Witness walked outside the laundry mat and observed the suspects, two black males, getting into a white box style vehicle, 4 doors and tinted windows, possibly a Pontiac Bonneville at the corner of 7th Avenue and 9th Street West. The suspects were wearing all black and the driver appeared to be between the ages of 25 to 30. He then observed the victim, Miguel Gomes, standing in the roadway begin to fall to the ground onto the grass. He rushed to the victim and asked if he is okay. The victim didn’t answer so the witness started CPR. He observed the victim’s wound to the upper left quadrant of his back. Gomes did not survive the gunshot wound.
