The body was found behind the Wal-Mart store on Cortez Road in Manatee County during the last week of March, 2000. On March 27, 2000, Tara Leigh Reilly received a telephone call at home to go to the Wal-Mart store at 5313 Cortez Road West to meet an unknown person regarding information to a custody dispute involving her child. Tara did not return home for over an hour. Her father went to the store to check on her and found her vehicle abandoned in the parking lot with the headlights on and the keys in the ignition. The father drove the vehicle home and then contacted the Bradenton Police Department. Tara's body was found the following day in a wooded area just a few hundred yards southwest of the Wal-Mart store where her vehicle was located. She was found in a mud-hole on a trail often used by off-road four wheel vehicles. The Bradenton Police Department released a composite drawing from a description provided by a witness who was at the Wal-Mart store on the evening that Tara Reilly disappeared. The unknown white male is described as approximately 30 years old, 5 ft. 9 inches tall, 150-170 pounds. He was described as wearing blue and white striped shorts, a blue-gray short sleeved pullover shirt. He was wearing new white tennis shoes and had dirty blonde hair straight back of medium length. The person was last seen in the parking lot having a verbal altercation with Tara Reilly prior to her disappearance. 4/14/00- Bradenton Police said they have indentified the person in the drawing. However, the person has retained an attorney. The man and several others who know the person also refuse to give statements to assist the investigation, according to the article in the Bradenton Herald this date. Update 5/10/00 No new information has been released on this crime since the 4/14/00 update.
