Source text · highlightedSunday, December 15th 1996 96-45922 Doris Korell Previously Known As: Jane Doe Location:6700 block U.S. 41 North Palmetto, Florida Suspect: Yes Synopsis: Korell was found lying in a drainage canal. It was determined by the medical examiner that she had died due multiple stab wounds. On May 22, 1997, Korell was positively identified. This case was initiated by St. Petersburg Police Detective Aspinall. Korell's boyfriend had reported her missing in December of 1996. Aspinall travelled to Maryland in June of 1997 to interview the boyfriend. He invoked his rights after a short interview, failing to provide Aspinall with any information about the homicide. Evidence from Korell's residence which was taken during Aspinall's investigation is currently being examined by the FBI.
